Connecting a bank comes with Premium. There's no separate charge for it and nothing to add on. If you never connect a bank you don't need it: typing a transaction takes about four seconds and the whole product works without one.
What it actually does
Connect a bank and the balances, the expenses and the income stop being something you type. Linked Banks shows what repeats and what's due, and your own rules name each line the bank sends as it lands. On top of that, Premium opens four tools that only make sense once real transactions are arriving:
- Reconcile asks whether two entries are the same expense. You answer, and nothing happens on its own.
- Jars splits a Space balance into envelopes: emergency, tuition, whatever you call them.
- Net Worth, which every plan has, counts the bank's accounts beside your Spaces and the accounts you keep by hand.
- Debt Payoff puts your cards in the order that costs you least, with the balances coming from the bank rather than from memory.
Each bank you connect also adds one Space to what Premium already gives you. Connecting the same bank twice adds nothing. A second bank adds a second Space.
Read-only, and there's no setting that changes it
Buhata can read your accounts. It can't move money. There's no transfer, no payment and no card anywhere in it, and no switch that turns one on later.
Your bank username and password never reach us. You type them on the connection provider's own screen, not ours. What comes back to Buhata is a token that reads the accounts you picked. We store that token encrypted on our server, and it never goes to your phone or your browser.
Connecting also asks for a passkey first, so your device wants your fingerprint, your face or your PIN before the flow starts. The credential is bound to buhata.com and can't be lifted onto a lookalike page.
Where it works
Banks in the US and Canada only. Premium costs the same everywhere, and everything else in it works wherever you are. A bank anywhere else can't be connected. That's a limit of the connection, not a judgment about where you live.
Money stays out of shared Spaces
A connected bank belongs to the account that connected it. It isn't shared with the other people on your plan. The second account Premium carries connects its own bank with its own login. The server refuses to write a financial record into a shared Space at all. The code enforces that, so it doesn't depend on a policy we keep.
If you disconnect, or Premium ends
Disconnect a bank and the transactions it brought in go with it.
Cancel Premium and it runs to the end of the period you paid for. After that, we delete the bank connections, the balances and the transactions they pulled in, because keeping them costs money every month. That cost runs whether anybody looks at them or not. Anything you typed yourself stays, locked, and comes back when you subscribe again. A trial that ends without a subscription works the same way.
Deleting your Buhata account ends the connection at the provider too, rather than leaving it alive on their side.
