Referral Program Terms

Last updated: August 7, 2026

These terms govern the Buhata invite program. They sit alongside the Terms and Conditions and the Subscription and Cancellation page, and where something is not covered here, those apply.

Where the program stands today

Invite links work now. Anybody you invite gets their trial straight away, and every invitation is recorded from the moment they join. Rewards for the person doing the inviting begin when paid plans open, and an invitation accepted before that date still counts towards them.

What the person you invite gets

Fourteen days of Premium, starting the moment they arrive through your link. No payment details are asked for and nothing charges itself when it ends. When the trial finishes they have seven days to take the offer, if they want it. What they get follows the plan they choose: half off their first month on a monthly plan, or 30% off their first year plus one month added to their renewal date on an annual plan. Each side of a referral is rewarded on its own plan, so a friend who chooses annual gets a month even when the person who invited them is on a monthly plan. If they do nothing, their account stays on the free plan and everything they wrote stays with them.

One reward per account, ever. Somebody who has held a Buhata account before does not get a second trial by arriving through a new link.

What you get

Your plan when the credit is appliedWhat you receive
MonthlyHalf off one month, per qualifying friend
AnnualFifteen days added to your renewal date, per qualifying friend
FreeCredits are held and applied to your first paid period

Fifteen days is fifteen days, not a calendar month, and that is deliberate: it makes the two rewards worth about the same. Half of a monthly invoice and fifteen days of an annual one are close enough in value that moving between plans neither grows nor shrinks what you have earned. The kind of reward still follows the plan you are on when a credit is applied, but the arithmetic no longer rewards switching, and it never did reward switching back and forth.

At the lifetime limit that is twenty-four rewards: up to a year of Buhata on an annual plan, twenty-four half-price months on a monthly one. It is a year of value at most, never two.

Twenty-four qualifying friends, for life. That limit follows both your account and your plan, so leaving one and starting another does not reset it. Cancelling, resubscribing, changing plan, changing your email or changing your invite link does not reset it either. A twenty-fifth friend is welcome and simply earns nothing.

Credits are applied one per billing period rather than all at once. All of them at the same time would be a run of free months followed by a full invoice, which helps nobody.

When a referral counts

A referral qualifies when the person you invited pays for their first period. Signing up does not qualify it, and neither does starting a trial, because no money has moved. After it qualifies there is a thirty day wait before the credit becomes yours, so that a refund or a chargeback inside that window is settled before anybody is paid.

When a referral does not count

Referrals arriving in unusual numbers over a short period are held for a person to look at before anything is paid. That is not an accusation, and a genuine burst of invitations is released. Sharing an address, a home network or a surname is not by itself a reason to refuse anybody; families and flatmates are real, and it takes more than one signal for a referral to be held.

Deleting an account does not clear its referral history. If an account took part in the program and is then deleted, we keep a one-way hash of its email address and card reference for two years, so that deleting and starting again is not a way to collect the same reward twice. A new account made by the same person can be used normally and simply earns no referral rewards. The Privacy Policy and Account Deletion pages say exactly what is kept.

Two things are worked out from the ordinary request your browser sends when somebody arrives through an invite link, or when you open your own invite screen: a rough signature of the browser and the network address it came from. Both are hashed with a secret key, so neither the address nor the browser details are stored, and the result can only be compared with another signup. They are kept for 180 days, they go when an account is deleted, and they are used for nothing but this. The Privacy Policy says the same in full.

Those signals hold a referral for review. They never refuse one by themselves, because a rule strict enough to catch a farm on circumstantial evidence also catches a family sharing a laptop. Only the plain rules above refuse a referral outright.

We may ask for reasonable proof before paying a credit, and we may withhold, reject, reverse or remove credits where we reasonably determine the program has been abused: duplicate accounts, self-referrals, cycling a subscription between people in one home, shared payment cards, automated signups, or referrals made to collect rewards rather than to bring somebody new to Buhata. Decisions are tied to those reasons and not made at whim.

Taking a reward back

A referral is void if the payment behind it is refunded or charged back, or if either account is closed for breaking the Terms. A reward already applied to an invoice is left alone: we do not claw back a discount somebody has already received.

What you may not do

Do not buy or sell invite links, post them as if they were a coupon on a deals site, create accounts to invite yourself, or say anything about Buhata in order to get somebody to sign up that is not true. Doing any of it voids the credits and may close the account.

Changes and ending

We may change or end this program at any time. Credits already earned and vested will be honoured, and we will give at least 30 days notice by email before a change that reduces what you have already been promised. Nothing here is a cash value: credits are a discount on Buhata and cannot be exchanged for money.
