Transparency Report

Last updated: September 8, 2026

This is Buhata’s transparency report. It covers what we were asked to remove, what we removed on our own, and what governments asked us for. We publish it once a year and we publish it even when every number is zero, because a report that only appears once there is something to report tells you less than one that has always been here.

The period

1 January 2026 to 31 December 2026. This edition is published early, during the year it covers, and will be replaced by the complete figures after it ends.

Content reports we received

Reports from users0
Reports from trusted flaggers0
Reports from authorities0
Content removed following a report0
Accounts suspended or terminated following a report0
Median time to act on a reportNo reports to measure

Every number here is zero because nobody has filed a report, and not because there is nowhere to file one. That reason changed during this period. Shared Spaces shipped, and with them a route that takes a report about a member, a post, a thread or a chat line, under nine categories. A child-safety report is the one with a written procedure and a clock: a senior reviews it within 24 hours. So a zero on this table now means what a reader would hope it means, and the excuse that used to sit here is gone.

Action we took on our own

Files blocked by automated child-safety scanning0
Files blocked by malware scanning0
Reports made to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children0
Accounts terminated for prohibited content0

Both scanners run in production and check every uploaded file before it is served to anybody. Zero here means nothing has matched, not that nothing was checked. What the checks are and what happens on a match is set out in the Terms and in our Child Safety Standards.

Copyright

Takedown notices received under the DMCA0
Counter-notices received0
Accounts terminated as repeat infringers0

Our designated Copyright Agent and how to send a notice are in the Terms.

Government and legal requests

Requests for user information0
Preservation requests0
Emergency disclosure requests0
Requests we produced information for0
Government orders to remove content0

We have never received a request of any kind, and we have never handed anything to a government. Where those requests should go, and what we can and cannot produce, is on the Law Enforcement Guidelines page.

Complaints and appeals

Complaints about a moderation decision0
Decisions changed on appeal0
Disputes referred to an out-of-court body0

Automated tools, and what they decide

Two automated checks run on uploaded files: one compares them against databases of known child sexual abuse material, the other scans for malware. Both compare a file against something known rather than forming a judgment about it. Neither uses a machine learning model to decide whether content is acceptable, and no account is suspended or terminated by an automated system without a person looking.

The error a hash comparison can make is a wrong match, not an opinion, and a blocked file can be raised with us at [email protected].

Monthly active recipients in the European Union

Buhata is below the threshold at which a service becomes a very large online platform, and by a wide margin. We will publish the figure here when we are required to.

What we do not do

We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for advertising. We do not use your entries to train any model. We have never received a national security request, and if we ever do we will say so here to whatever extent the law allows.
