FAQ

How does the pick up, put down method work?

When your baby cries, you pick them up and soothe them, then lay them back in the crib before they fall asleep. You repeat this until they fall asleep in the crib.

Is pick up, put down gentler than cry it out?

Cleveland Clinic says some parents feel it's gentler than cry it out and the Ferber method, since the baby is comforted in your arms each time. It can take more time and patience.

What age is pick up, put down for?

Cleveland Clinic says babies are often ready for sleep training around 4 months, some earlier and some closer to 6 months, and that newborns shouldn't be sleep trained.
