Good to Know
NCES defines a public school by who runs it and who pays for it. Your school district decides attendance zones, registration dates and documents, so check its website or call its enrollment office. NCES's Condition of Education publishes the enrollment figures each year; the fall 2022 numbers above are the latest total this check found.
